Take a tour at Wildlife Wonders 

The entire experience at Wildlife Wonders has been designed to be achievable and accessible for the whole family. With zero steps, the 1.4km (mostly compacted gravel) tour path is suitable for most sturdy wheelchairs or prams. There are also multiple seating benches placed along the tour. Wildlife Wonders provides everyone with an audio headset to hear your conservationist tour guide sharing stories, as well as loan binoculars to help spot as much bird and wildlife as you can.

Parking

There are 2 (two) accessible parking spaces located within the main carpark, located close to the front of the building. There is a flat, compacted gravel path from the carpark through to the entrance, with a slight curb incline.

Trail Grade

Grade 2

2 Classification which includes gentle slopes only, with some sections that may exceed 1:14 gradient, modified surfaces, suitable for wheelchair users with some assistance.

Toilets

There are fully accessible bathrooms with wide entrance and halls to the amenities.

Swim at RACV Torquay 

Train, play or relax in RACV Torquay’s heated swimming pools. They have a 25-metre indoor pool that is perfect for laps and has a separate recreation area. Ranging in depth, they have a range of access for older adults and people with disabilities. A mechanical hoist is available to assist with access.

Parking

Ten (10) dedicated accessible parking spots located around the resort. They are located both in the outdoor and basement car parks. From any entrance/lift, they are within 5-10 metres with a wheelchair-accessible path of travel.

Toilets

Accessible toilets in main areas of the resort including Restaurant, Conference and Events area, Golf Pro Shop and the Fitness area.

Good To Know

A mechanical hoist is available to assist with access, pools have ramp in.

Lift & 24 hour front desk. Guide & Assistance Dogs Accepted. Membership is required for access to these spaces.

Hit the adaptive rider friendly trails in Forrest

Situated in the breathtaking scenery of the Great Otway National Park the Forrest MTB Trails offers some of the most diverse and fun trails in Australia. The Ride Forrest trails provide ‘Adaptive Rider Friendly trails’ based on guidelines supplied by ‘Break the Boundary’. The southern network surrounds the township of Forrest and takes riders through a mixture of wet eucalypt forest and awesome fern gullies.

Parking

There is parking at the Trailhead and throughout locations in the Southern Trail Network.

Toilets

Located at the Trailhead and Skills Park, wheelchair accessible.

Take a surf lesson with Apollo Bay Surf & Kayak

Located in the stunning Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road, the surf lessons are right on the Apollo Bay foreshore and guided kayaking tours within the Marengo Marine Sanctuary. Parking on the foreshore, and near the Apollo Bay Surf Life Saving Club.

Toilets

Located near the Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre, wheelchair accessible however there is a ramp with a barrier to get up to the toilet. There are also toilets and an outdoor shower located towards the Foreshore Playground and another at the carpark by the Apollo Bay Golf Club.

Explore Stevensons Falls

Stevensons Falls is one of the Otway region’s most accessible and spectacular waterfalls. Starting from the car park, this short walk passes through a stand of large Californian redwood trees which are a remnant of a trial plantation established in the 1980s. From here, the picturesque walk crosses over the Gellibrand River and then continues alongside the river to a viewing platform at the base of the waterfalls. This easy walk is suitable for everyone and is wheelchair accessible and pram friendly.

The site also has 2 smaller walks: the Redwoods Boardwalk, showcasing the giant Californian redwoods, and the Blue Spruce Walk which runs along the Gellibrand River.

Parking

Accessible parking spaces (2) are located at the head of the walk.

Trail Grade

Grade 2

Grade 2 (1 to 4 hours duration. 3.4km return. No steps. Gentle hills. Formed track. Limited signage. No experience required).

Toilets

Located near the beginning of the walk, adjacent to the accessible parking spaces. which are wheelchair accessible.

The drive in is winding and at some points has blind corners which is suitable for 2WD, please travel slowly and safely. Dogs are allowed. There are seating platforms along the walk for rest. There are two (2) steps in the boardwalk that leads through the Californian redwoods.
